Do you throw away clay bar after use?
Don’t rub clay on your paint after dropping it either. Once you drop a piece of detailing clay, you MUST throw it out! The clay is so sticky that it will pick up any tiny abrasive particles, bits of sand, dirt, and grime from the floor.
Do clay bars go bad?

Can I make my own clay bar lubricant?
Yes, soapy water makes a very decent clay lubricant! After you wash the car, mix the same proportions of car shampoo and water in a clean bucket or spray bottle and apply generously to the surface. Then, go at it with the clay, regularly adding more soapy water to keep the surface wet at all times.
Can you clay bar without waxing?
Sure. Should you, no. If time is an issue, clay and wax part of the car this weekend and clay/wax the other half next weekend. If you use Nanoskin “clay” and incorporate it into the wash step, then claying really adds a few minutes of additional work time, at most.
