Stoneware glaze firings are usually around 1200°C-1300°C. At these temperatures the clay fuses and becomes strong and impervious to water. The glaze fuses with the clay, making the ware very strong.
What temperature is a glaze firing?
Glaze firing should be at 100-130 degrees C per hour with a 30 minute soak. Bloating can result from firing clay above its vitrification point or from insufficient biscuit firing or too fast a ramp rate in the later stage of glaze firing.
What temperature does pottery glaze melt at?
A flux makes otherwise very high-temperature melting silica (3110°F (1710°C)), melt at lower, more attainable temperatures such as 2232°F (1222°C) (cone 6). Alumina is added as a stabilizer to essentially keep the melted silica adhered to the ceramic surface.

Don’t open the kiln until it is below 150-250 degrees F, or thermal shock may hurt the ware and/or the kiln elements. You should be able to touch the pieces before you unload them. It almost never hurts to fire a kiln slower rather than faster. The exception is some glazes that will look better if fired fast.
Do you glaze clay before or after baking?
