Casting, also known as ‘slip casting’, is a technique most widely used in the field of geopolymers. It is used for the production of complex shapes from a suspension poured into a mold. The suspension is made of raw materials in powder form, dispersed in a liquid which, in the case of geopolymers, is water.

How do you store clay slips?
If you find the slip mix is too thin, you can let it settle. Overnight the water will separate out from the clay and some will sit on top of the mixture. You can simply pour off some of the excess water to thicken the slip. Once you have it at the right consistency, store it in a sealed container.
