Yes you can distress furniture paint with regular flat latex paint. It’s a budget friendly alternative. A flat latex paint is easy to sand and you can use my vinegar and water distressing technique . You can layer two colors, and create lots of the looks if you use flat latex paint.

To achieve the distressed effect you skim over the Volterra coat with a trowel. Use sweeping actions side to side and up and down. Can you stamp over distress Micro glaze?

You can even stamp over the top once the colour is dry and then, once again, you should be able to wipe off the ink from the resist areas.
