Can you wet pan pastels?

Are Pan Pastels the same as soft pastels?
Pan pastels could basically be called another version of soft pastels that are formulated with the least bit of binder contained in flat compact pans, such as those that contain makeup. These are applied to the surface using unique micropore soft sponge tools.

Can you use a brush with pan pastels?
I usually dip the brush directly in the pastel pan to paint areas darker. To make some areas darker than your light wash, you can just pick up a bit more pigments with your brush and brush them onto a still wet wash. You can get beautiful speckle-like textures by brushing more pigment into a wet wash.
What is the best paper for pan pastels?
Bristol Vellum is a nice surface to use, particularly if your art requires a lot of detail, Marker paper can also be used but with this surface layers will be very limited. Other papers that can be used are Watercolor, PastelBoard, UART Sanded paper and even canvas.

What to blend soft pastels with?
You can use a cloth to blend pastels, but chamois are even more effective. Chamois is a type of super-soft and flexible leather that is excellent for blending colors with pastels. For large areas, you can wipe or rub the chamois across the surface of your paper.

Can you use pan pastels on watercolor paper?

How do you blend pastel pencils?
To blend pastels you can use a paper stump, a rubber shaper or your finger. Blend several similar colours together to enhance or heighten a colour e.g. two or three blues or greens. Apply diagonal lines (hatching and cross hatching) of pure colour without blending, this also helps prevent colours becoming ‘muddy’.
