What side of underlayment faces up?

If you are using rubber underlay, roll it out rubber side down with the paper facing up – if you’re using polyurethane underlay, like the ones we supply, the printed side should face up.

Do you tape underlayment to the floor?

Be sure not to overlap the pieces of the underlayment when you add consecutive rows. All you have to do is butt rows together and secure them with a sticky tape.

Does it matter which side of underlayment goes down?

No, you should not glue down your underlayment. Underlayment is is a floating material, the same as your laminate flooring. In most cases, you should not glue or nail your underlayment down. You should always check with the installation instructions of the underlayment for proper installation instructions first.

Should underlayment go up the wall?

How far apart should screws be on underlayment?

Generally, nails (6d ring or screw shank, or 8d common) should be spaced 6 inches on center along supported panel edges and 12 inches on center on the panels’ interior supports, or as specified on the construction drawings. Many manufacturers print a fastener template directly on the panel face.

Do you tape moisture barrier under laminate flooring?

Cut out your moisture barrier and lay it on the subfloor, then fasten pieces together using packing tape. It is important to have the plastic pieces overlap by a minimum of 8 inches. You can also paint the entire exterior surfaces using moisture barrier paint. The moisture barrier will just level itself out.
