Canvas is set up so students have read-only access to content in past courses indefinitely. After the quarter ends, past courses can be found by going to the Courses menu, clicking the All Courses link and scrolling to the Past Enrollments section.
Can students access canvas after course ends?
After a Canvas course’s term has ended, the course becomes read-only for enrolled students. Instructors can no longer add or remove members using the People tool, send messages to students in the course, or edit course content.
How long do you have access to canvas after you graduate?
Once five years have passed since a Canvas site was active, that site may no longer be available. Faculty may choose to enable a setting that completely prevents students from accessing a Canvas site after a term ends.
Can students access old canvas courses?
To access a Canvas site for a past course, please log into Canvas, click on the Courses tab, and then click on the View All Courses link. On the next page under “Past Enrollments,” you will be able to view your past courses.

What happens when a canvas course is archived?
Archived course sites are not deleted or removed. Everything in the course site – all course content, quizzes, student submissions, grades, rubrics, assignment comments etc. – is preserved.
What happens to canvas after graduation?
Note: Content exports expire after 30 days and can no longer be downloaded. The ZIP file will automatically download to your computer. If your computer asks you what to do with the file, you can choose to open the file directly, or save the file to your computer.

How do I remove old courses from canvas dashboard?
From your course home page, click the settings tab at the bottom of the course menu. Once in settings, there will be options for both deleting or ending the course on the menu on the right side of the page. Click whichever one to end or delete your course.
Can I unpublish a course in canvas?
Once you Publish your Canvas course site, you do not have to republish it again if you add new content. You only have to Publish the site once. You can Unpublish the course by going to the Home page and clicking Unpublish. This will remove the Dashboard Card link from all student accounts.
How do I end a course in canvas?
When a course is concluded, the course end date is automatically populated with the current date and time. Open Settings. In Course Navigation, click the Settings link. Conclude This Course. To conclude your course, click the Conclude this Course link. Conclude Course. Click the Conclude Course button. View Confirmation.
How long can I keep my UC Davis email?
During this 30 day period, we strongly advise members to set up email forwarding for their UC Davis email account in order to continue receiving email sent to their UC Davis email address. You will have 30 days to access your inbox and 180 days to setup email forwarding on your account.
Do I get to keep my UC Davis email after graduation?
You can check http://status.ucdavis.edu/ to check system status. Note that if you are on the old geckomail system, email address gets turned off 60 days after you graduate or get disenrolled, however you can get it forwarded elsewhere. (Persons on the new Davismail keep their accounts for life.).
How can students share canvas course?
Go to Course Settings, Scroll all the way to the bottom, Click on “More Options”, Click the checkbox for “Let students self-enroll by sharing with them a secret URL”. Click “Update Course Details” button, When the page refreshes after saving, you will see the URL.
What does only available to students with link mean?
The default restriction option is to make the file only available to students with the link. The Only available to students with link option makes the file available to students who are given a link to the file. The file will be hidden to students in Course Files.
Why are my classes GREY on canvas?
When a course’s events and assignments are hidden the color display in gray. Click again to display the events again. Each student also has a personal calendar as well. The colors associated with a course can be changed by clicking the three dots next to the course title.
How do I view unpublished courses in canvas?
Courses from the current term will be listed at the top. Future enrollments for the upcoming term will be at the bottom of the screen. Courses in which you are enrolled in Canvas but have not yet been published by the instructor will show in black font, with the “unpublished” label as pictured above.
