Can roofing felt get rained on?
Felt will often get wet with a Cedar shake roof since this type of roof is designed to soak up then shed water. Roofing felt should ideally be dry when shingles are installed to avoid ripping, but it’s still possible to install when wet. The felt can be damaged if exposed to moisture too long.
Can water pass roofing felt?
There may be a hole in the felt at some point or the wind has been strong enough to drive the water up above the overlap join on the felt. Best to monitor the situation, if it gets any worse then call a pro roofer in.
How long can building paper be exposed?

Does roof felt rot?

Should I use 15 or 30 lb felt?
While #15 is a good option for most roofing jobs, #30 provides more protection and performance for steep roofs and flat roofs. If your roof does not have a steep pitch, you can use #15. This weight of felt is a good economic choice if you have a standard roof.
Can you roof over wet plywood?
