Engine Dies When Throttle Applied

The engine will often run fine at idle, but will die when it is throttled up. This is because there is less air moving through the engine at idle. When the engine is run at full throttle, especially under load, the air flow is much greater, which causes more back pressure, and results in the engine stalling.

When I open the throttle the engine dies?

A clogged air filter will starve the engine of oxygen, causing the engine to die at full throttle. The engine may idle normally, but at higher RPMs it may not get enough fuel, causing the engine to stall. To inspect or replace the fuel filter, follow the fuel line from the tank to the carburetor and locate the filter.

Why does my bike stall when I give it gas?

A motorcycle will stall when you give is gas when the air/fuel mixture is too rich or way too lean. A dirty air filter, water in the fuel tank, clogged carburetor jets, slack throttle cable, or torn carb slide diaphragm may also cause a motorcycle to die when the throttle is opened.

Why does my trimmer dies when I give it gas?

One reason why one of these trimmers may die at full throttle is that too much oil is in the gas, which causes poor combustion. Improper operation, including overuse of the choke, can also be responsible. Poor combustion produces carbon deposits that foul the spark plug and exhaust port, making the problem worse.

Why does my engine stall under load?

The most likely reason that your two-stroke engine is stalling under load is that your carburetor is dirty or dead. It is still worth it to run through the other, easier fixes of your engine, before jumping to the rebuild of the carburetor.

Why does my motorcycle die when I throttle it?

As the air filter cleans the air entering the carburetor, it will eventually become dirty or clogged and may prevent the proper amount of air from mixing with the fuel, causing your engine to stall.

Why does my tiller keep dying?

The main reason that your cultivator would idle, but then die at full throttle, is not enough air entering the engine. The air filter is meant to protect your engine from dirt and debris. Over time, however, the air filter can become clogged by this debris, which can prevent air from entering the engine.

What causes engine bogging?

The problem of an engine bogging out is commonly caused by inefficiency of fuel or air flow or ignition to the carburetor. If the air filter is clogged or has a lot of dirt in it, it could be bogging down the engine. Clean the air filter and see if the problem goes away.

What causes a 2 stroke to bog?

Now regardless of whether it’s on a garden strimmer, lawnmower or chainsaw, whenever we pull the throttle on a 2 stroke engine and get a bogged down sound it’s almost always caused by an insufficient amount of fuel reaching the engine.

Why is my bike losing power when I accelerate?

You may have excess slack on the throttle cable where it is connected to the carburetor. This in turn will lessen it’s ability to open the butterfly valve because it’s not giving it a full pull. You will have an uneven air and fuel mix which will cause your motorcycle to lose power when accelerating.

Why does my motorcycle shut off when idling?

The dreaded stalling issue when the engine is warm is the most common idle problem and it is mostly related to the very lean air/fuel ratio on the modern fuel injected motorcycle engine.

Why does my motorcycle bogs down when I give it gas?

The most common reason is that your air/fuel mixture is inefficient or dirty. If your air filter is clogged or has a lot of dirt. It could be bogging down the engine. Consider cleaning the air filter or replacing it with an air kit to see if the problem is resolved.

Why does my strimmer cuts out when revved?

Check for corrosion, breakage, deposits or melted parts. If you notice any of these negative symptoms, it’s time to replace the plug. A filter maintains a clean airflow inside the engine and stops small particles to enter and damage its internal parts. So, an air filter might clog over time.

Why does my petrol strimmer loses power?

If your trimmer engine idles, but stalls on throttle, check the following parts: the gasket, primer bulb, fuel filter, air filter, fuel vent, fuel line, and carburetor. Remove the air cleaner cap and filter, checking for any obstructions in the way that could block air flow, starving the engine of oxygen.

Do bad spark plugs cause stalling?

Faulty spark plugs can cause the car to exhibit starting troubles. Worn out plugs does not produce sufficient sparks, which is needed for starting the engine. This results in the engine to stall and fail to start quickly.

Can bad EGR valve cause stalling?

Stalling when the engine idles like a rough idle is usually caused when the EGR valve is permanently open and is constantly letting exhaust gases into the EGR system.

Can EVAP leak cause stalling?

If damage to the solenoid continues, it can also lead to your engine stalling out completely. The EVAP controls vapor. A leak within the system can impact how well your vehicle starts and stays running. Any issue with interrupted internal combustion may cause your engine to stall or refuse to start altogether.
