Question: Does Worbka Transpa Art Stick To Itself

It is possible to stick TranspArt to itself, but the temperature range is very narrow, and so glue is strongly suggested. Check below for a video by Worbla’s creators discussing the process of working with TranspArt.

Does Worbla stick to itself?

How it is done is also simple: Worbla Products (excepting TranspArt) are self adhesive and will ‘stick’ to most materials as well as to itself. Worbla can be wrapped around a filler material where it will adhere, or be ‘sandwiched’ with a filler material in the middle.

What does Worbla not stick to?

Worbla is adhesive when heated and it can and will stick to your work surfaces. It will also stick to wax paper, aluminum foil, and any plastic you have around. It won’t stick to parchment or silicone, so we suggest always working on a surface with one of those as a barrier.

Does Worbla Harden?

When it hardens it is extremely strong and can be painted and finished easily. It can also be re-heated and formed endlessly, so you never have to waste any of it! Just heat your scraps and mush them back together.

Worbla’s Finest Art – quickly changes color to darker when properly heated. When overheated it becomes white. Worbla’s Black Art – becomes darker, gritty and you will be able to see it’s structure when heated. When overheated it basically melts and becomes glossy.

Can you heat Worbla with a hairdryer?

When heated, Worbla can be molded into whatever shape you want and becomes rigid when cool. The easiest way to shape Worbla is using a heat gun (or hair dryer in a pinch) and heat knife. The drawback is that both these items create a lot of heat and heat BURNS things.

Does Worbla need to be primed before painting?

For similar reasons Worbla also needs primed before it can be painted. The surface of regular Worbla is somewhat rough, and depending on what kind of look you are trying to achieve you may need to add quite a few layers of primer, and possibly some sanding time to your Worbla.

How strong is Worbla?

How strong is Worbla? Can I use it to build a very large prop? Worbla is strong, but is not made to support weight in itself and can snap if too much weight is placed on one area. If you need to make something large you are best to use a core of foam or pvc to support the weight.
