CommonLit currently integrates with Clever and Google Classroom. We do not yet support official Schoology, Canvas, ClassLink, or other learning management system (LMS) integrations. However, you can use our Clever or Google Classroom integrations as a bridge between CommonLit and your LMS.
Does CommonLit integrate with Google Classroom?
Yes! You can import your Google Classroom classes and student rosters into CommonLit, post assignments straight to your Google Classroom stream from CommonLit, and export scores to your Google Classroom gradebook. To access our integration, you must first import your classes and students with Google Classroom.

How do I sync Google Classroom with CommonLit?
To add new students to your Google Classroom class on CommonLit, go to your Manage Classes page and press the green sync button for the class. Syncing will automatically create their CommonLit student account (if they do not yet have one) and add them to your class.
How do I import grades from CommonLit to Google Classroom?
After you create an assignment, choose the “Post Assignment and Scores to Google Classroom” option on your Share Assignment window. This option will create an assignment in your stream, update the assignment on Google to show students’ assignment statuses, and export grades to Google Classroom.
How do students login to CommonLit?
How do students sign in? Log In With CommonLit. Students enter their CommonLit username and CommonLit password that they recorded upon sign-up. Log in with Google. How do I add a student to CommonLit?
Manual Account Creation: Once you’ve created your classes, your students can manually join your class. First, go to your “Manage Classes” page and click on Add Students or Options > Add Students. You will be provided with the class code and a student sign-up link.
Where is the Sync button in Google Classroom?
The ‘sync’ button should be available in the Manage Students tab for any section that connects to Google Classroom or Clever, which will update any changes to the roster.
How do I update my Google classroom roster?
Click on the Members tab, and click Sync Roster to update the list of students that can access the group to the latest Google Class roster.
How do I turn in assignments on CommonLit?
If you already know the CommonLit text that you want to assign to students, simply click “Add Assignment” on your “Assignments” page. You will be prompted to select the text you want to assign, the classes or individual students groups to which you’d like to assign it, and a due date.
How do you get to CommonLit?
Step 1: Register for CommonLit Go to www.commonlit.org. Click CREATE ACCOUNT. Choose I AM AN EDUCATOR. Select the type of school you work in. Enter your first and last name, valid school email, and password. Choose your role and the level of technology your students have.

Importing scores from a Google Form to Google Classroom only works if these two options are enabled. When their scores are imported to Google Classroom, only the current score is reported. As students improve their scores, you can do multiple “Import Grades” to see their improvement.
