Clipper® is a reloadable fare payment card that’s used to store a Caltrain Monthly Pass and/or cash. Clipper cards can be purchased at www.clippercard.com, one of Clipper’s® retailers such as Walgreens or at the Caltrain office in San Carlos. Adult cards cost $3. Youth and Senior cards are free.
Does Caltrain have student discount?

Does VTA Clipper card work on Caltrain?

Can you combine Clipper cards?

Does Bart connect to Caltrain?

Why does Clipper card take 5 days?
If we can’t collect payment before midnight, we may block your pass/ticket or, in the case of cash value, your entire Clipper card. You will need to tag your card to a card reader or ticket machine to activate it. This process may take up to 5 days if you are tagging only on a bus or light-rail vehicle.
What happens if you forget to tag off Clipper card?
If you forget to tag off, that’s the fare you will pay. But if you tag off, Clipper will return the difference of $6 to your card. The other reason to tag off is to take advantage of eligible free or discounted rides when you transfer from one transit agency to another.
Can you drink on Caltrain?

Unlike a credit or debit card, the Clipper card does not expire; however, you will need to renew your eligibility for Clipper START once every two years to continue receiving the discount.
Does Caltrain connect to Amtrak?
Amtrak train service to Sacramento, the San Joaquin Valley, Los Angeles and Seattle connects with Caltrain at the San Jose Diridon Caltrain Station.
How long is the Caltrain ride from San Jose to San Francisco?
Caltrain runs frequent trains about 20 hours a day. Local trains take 90 minutes to reach San Francisco, but Baby Bullet and limited-stop trains are faster.
