Question: Ditra Set Where To Buy

What is Ditra set used for?

Bostik Ditra-Set™ Portland cement thin set large and heavy tile mortar for Schluter®-Ditra® and Schluter®-Kerdi® uncoupling and waterproofing membranes provides outstanding workability, excellent durability, significant leveling characteristics, and superior bond strengths in interior and exterior applications.

What is the difference between Schluter set and Schluter All set?

Schluter ALL-SET® is a specialized modified thin-set mortar specifically formulated for use with Schluter® membranes and boards. Schluter SET® is a premium unmodified thin-set mortar specifically formulated to use with Schluter® membranes and boards.

How do you mix Bostik DITRA sets?

Using a slow speed mixer (<150 rpm), mix 5 to 6 quarts of clean potable water, Bostik 425™ Multi-Purpose Acrylic Admixture, or Bostik Flex- A-Lastic® Admixture to 50 lbs. of Bostik Ditra-Set™. Mix to creamy consistency. Do not re-temper by adding more liquid.

Can I use Schluter all set on cement board?

It is engineered for use with Schluter membranes and boards, including tile installation. Schluter ALL-SET™ meets or exceeds the American National Standard Specifications for Modified Dry-Set Cement Mortar, ANSI A118.

How long do you wait to tile after installing Ditra?

How long do I have to wait before I can install tile on the Schluter®-DITRA membrane? Once DITRA has been installed on the substrate, tile can be installed right away. No need to wait for the mortar to cure.

What kind of Thinset do you use for Ditra?

To set DITRA over concrete or gypsum, Schluter-Systems recommends an unmodified thin-set mortar meeting the requirements of ANSI A118.

Can I use Schluter ALL-SET under Ditra?

Schluter ALL-SET® is suitable for use with ceramic, porcelain, and stone tile, including large and heavy tile, in conjunction with Schluter®-Systems’ uncoupling and waterproofing membranes (e.g., DITRA, DITRA-HEAT, KERDI, etc.), the Schluter®-Shower System, and KERDI-BOARD.

What happens if you use modified thinset on Ditra?

Since DITRA is impervious, it does not deprive the mortar of its moisture. This allows the cement to properly hydrate, resulting in a strong, dense bond coat. In general, we don’t recommend the use of modified thin-set mortar to set tile over the membranes because these mortars must air dry to cure properly.

How thick should my thinset be?

In most installations, a layer of thinset 3/16 to 1/8-inch thick is sufficient. Too much thinset creates a mess and inhibits proper bonding between the tile and the substrate. For most tiles, apply a layer of thinset 3/16–1/8-inch thick.

Can I use grout as thinset?

Can you use grout as Thinset? No- it’s not advisable to use grout in place of thinset- as these two don’t boast the same structural strength. As such, grout isn’t able to effectively stick tiles to the concrete subfloor as well as thinset does.

How long does Schluter all set last?

In standard conditions (70ºF and 50% RH) Schluter SET® and Schluter ALL-SET® have a pot life of 2-4 hours. Schluter FAST-SET® has a pot life of 30 mins in standard conditions.

Can you put Schluter over drywall?

Yes. Once you install KERDI over the drywall panels, they will be completely protected from the water and vapor in your tiled shower.

Do I need to tape DITRA seams?

Is it required to waterproof Schluter™-DITRA and Schluter™-DITRA-XL? Waterproofing the floor is not required, but can be beneficial in some cases. Since the matting is made of waterproof polypropylene, the only extra step necessary is to seal the seams and floor/wall connections.

Is it OK to walk on DITRA?

Since Ditra protects the tiles from any unnecessary movement, deflection, or moisture on the surface, walking over it before tiling or even after installing it for tiling will cause no harm to the mat. Ditra is used as an underlayment for tiling on surfaces like MDF or plywood.

Can you walk on DITRA underlayment?

Pro-Tip: DITRA can be walked on immediately after; there’s no need to wait for the mortar to cure.

How thick should subfloor be for DITRA?

DITRA allows for ceramic tile application over single-layer plywood or OSB subfloors on joists spaced up to 19.2″ (488 mm) o.c. DITRA-XL is 5/16″ (7 mm) thick, which permits even transitions between tile and 3/4″-thick hardwood flooring.

Is DITRA better than cement board?

Ditra is waterproof, while cement board lets water through but won’t be damaged by it. This may make Ditra a better choice if moisture from below is a concern, such as with some outdoor applications or installations over concrete.

How much thickness does DITRA add?

DITRA is 1/8″ (3 mm) thick, which minimizes tile assembly thickness and reduces transitions to lower surface coverings (e.g., carpet, engineered wood, and vinyl).

How much mortar do I need for DITRA?

To bond DITRA and DITRA-XL to the substrate: Use one 50 lb. (22.68 kg) bag of mortar per 150 – 200 ft2 (13.9 – 18.6 m2). To bond tile to DITRA, using a 1/4″ x 3/8″ (6 mm x 10 mm) square- or U-notched trowel: Use one 50 lb (22.68 kg) bag of mortar per 40 – 50 ft2 (3.7 – 4.6 m2).

How much thinset do I need?
