Plywood & Hardboard Raw plywood and hardboard are too porous of surfaces to stick wallpaper. But if you prime these two materials properly, any wallpaper material will stick to them. Just make sure to consult the material guidelines and check which paint or primer is needed for the wallpaper to stick.
Can wallpaper be applied to hardboard?
