Mixing Colors You can create your own colors by mixing different colored balls of Model Magic®. Another way to create color is to rub a Crayola® marker on moist Model Magic®. Then knead the marker color in with your hands.

How do you mix Model Magic?

Steps Roll a small ball of white Model Magic. Take a small amount of white Model Magic about the size of a golf ball. Add a little more black Model Magic to the grey in order to create a slightly darker shade of grey. Repeat this process two more times, each time adding slightly more black Model Magic.

Can Crayola Model Magic be painted?

Can you add water to Crayola Model Magic?

Why does Model Magic crack?

If the clay is an air-dry clay (water-based) then it will dry in the air. That natural drying can be speeded up with heat and with more air passing by it, but drying it “too fast” can lead to cracking and pointing a hair dryer all around the clay for long enough to dry the item would get really tiring.

What can I color Model Magic with?

Dry Model Magic compound can be painted with Crayola Watercolor, Tempera, Acrylic, and washable paints or decorated with Crayola Markers. Wet Model Magic can be colored with watercolor and markers, however, the colors will be lighter than those applied to dried compound and the pieces may take longer to dry.

Can you smooth out model magic with water?

Water will help smooth and blend between these blobs, as will very thin pieces of clay from time to time. Unlike more professional clays, the model magic doesn’t like to be refined gradually. It’s more about picking a shape and sticking with it.

Can you use Model Magic for clay cracking?

Yes, I use it in both molds I have made, and commercial molds. I used cornstarch to reduce sticking. Also, after your clay has been out and even dried a bit, the molds work well. Hope this helps.

How do you smooth cracks in Model Magic?

Once the clay is sealed, you can start to fill the cracks with spackle. I ended up just going ahead and covering the whole thing with a coat of it, it just looks more even that way. Give the spackle at least an hour more than the container says to dry. Sand down the spackle until it’s smooth.

Can you paint model magic after it dries?

But do prime it! Model magic is still a little porous after drying so make sure its sealed before painting. Just take the color in layers, letting each layer dry before the next and you should get nice smooth color.

How do you keep model magic from drying out?

Another thing you can do is put the clay in a regular plastic bag and twist the top of bag to seal it with as little air as possible . Then put that bag inside a regular ziplock freezer bag. This double bag method has kept some of my opened Model Magic fresh for 2 months so far.
