Draw Phase (Japanese: ドローフェイズ Dorō Feizu) is the first phase of every turns, in which the turn player conducts their normal draw to draw 1 card from their Deck. Trap Cards, Quick-Play Spell Cards, and Quick Effects may be activated in this phase, after the turn player has drawn a card.
When can a quick effect be activated?
Fast effects can be activated by either player – even during their opponent’s turn, as long as the conditions are appropriate. When both players want to activate fast effects at the same time, they are placed on a Chain (see pages 38-41 of the v8.

When can monster effects be activated?
The effect starts when the face-up monster appears on the field, and ends once that monster is gone or is no longer face-up; there is no trigger for its activation. These monsters are most useful if you have a strategy to protect them while they are on the field. Monsters with 2000 or less ATK cannot declare an attack.

Can you activate a quick effect in response to a counter trap?
Counter Traps are Spell Speed 3. Quick Effects are Spell Speed 2. So a Quick Effect can’t be chained to a Counter Trap.
Does Tributing count as destroying?
No, destruction and being tributed are 2 different things. If a card is destroyed, the effect will say “destroy it.” In fact, tributing and destroying are mutually exclusive.
Can you Fusion Summon during battle phase?

Can Torrential Tribute miss timing?
Torrential tribute can however miss the timing, as DarkCygnus mentioned. However, this has to do with how the summon happened, and not with the cards that were activated in reaction to the summon afterwards.
When can you activate Super Polymerization?
The prevention of “Super Polymerization” means that no card or effect can be chained to its activation. Therefore, when “Super Polymerization” resolves and the Fusion Monster is Special Summoned, “Torrential Tribute” or “Bottomless Trap Hole” can be activated.
Can Cerulean skyfire negate Supertech?
Because this card doesn’t activate to negate effects you can use it negate cards that prevent responding to its activation like “Super Polymerization” or any Counter Trap Card. This is because it negates the resolution of the effect rather than the initial activation.
Does Super Polymerization target monsters?
“Super Polymerization” does not target. The Fusion Material Monsters are sent to the Graveyard when “Super Polymerization” resolves.
Is dark hole a quick-play spell?
Players may activate Quick-Play Spell Cards from their hand during their own turn, but cannot activate them from their hand during the opponent’s turn, except by the effect of “Condemned Maiden”. Quick-Play Spell Cards can be Chained to other cards. Example. Player A activates “Dark Hole”.
Does Mystical Space Typhoon negate?
“Mystical Space Typhoon” and “Dust Tornado” do not negate the effects of cards they destroy. However the effects of Continuous and Equip Cards need to remain on the field to resolve, so their effects are not applied if they are destroyed.
Are Kaijus activated effects?
While the effect of “Vanity’s Emptiness” is being applied, since monsters cannot be Special Summoned, “Interrupted Kaiju Slumber” cannot be activated.
Is Kaiju tribute a card effect?
When I tribute a Battle Butler to summon a Kaiju, does it’s floating effect activate? It has been tributed by a card in my hand, but now that it’s summoned to the opponent’s field, it’s “their card”. Actually, it is still your card (that is, you are the owner of the card).
