Is felting easy to learn?
The great thing about felting, whether it be wet or needle felted is that it’s an easy craft and you don’t need a long or expensive list of equipment. As with any craft there are essential tools but the most impressive tool will be your own imagination.
Is it hard to do felting?
Needle felting, even for small projects (the owl I made is just 4 inches tall or so), takes a long time. This took me about 7 hours to make. If knitting or crocheting gives you tendonitis, as they do me, needle felting is easier on your wrists. You’ll stab yourself a lot, even with the needle felting mat.
How long does it take to do needle felting?
A small needle felted project without any armature can take an experienced felter as little as one to two hours to felt. A beginner to felting should be able to finish a small felted project in a few hours. Larger more complex felted projects can take anything up to 50-80 hours or more.
