It is recommended that you bisque fire the paper clay prior to the application of Design Colours, Cesco Underglazes and Wunder Colours. The bisque firing temperature should be at least 1050°C.
Do you have to fire paper clay?
The firing and glazing process for paper clay can be the same as regular clay, so you generally won’t need to amend your normal routine. However, some potters do fire paper clay at a slightly higher temperature. Be aware that the extra fibers which make the work so strong can also make the fired work more porous.
How do you use paper clay?
Wash your hands thoroughly and make sure your work surface is clean. Clay picks up every dust or particle on the work surface and your hands. Roll clay out to about ¼” thickness or thickness desired. Place on wax paper to dry turning every few hours for even drying. You can also use this clay to sculpt.

Can you soften paper clay?
If you have stored you dried out paper clay in sheets, and want to use them as sheets, you can reconstitute (ie rewet/rehydrate) them as such and can begin using them once the sheets have returned to their leather hard state. Most of the time, I just roll out my reconstituted clay into slabs and let it firm up.
