Can teak wood be sanded?
Sanding the Teak You can do most of the job by hand with 120-grit sandpaper. If you prefer to use a machine, choose any standard palm-sized orbital sander. Keep in mind that sanding machines make small, circular scratch marks. You’ll have to erase those by hand-sanding with the next finest sandpaper, 150-grit.
Should I oil my outdoor teak furniture?

Teak is naturally water resistant and highly durable in exterior uses so generally we recommend an oil stain, but water based can be used as well.
