How To Treat New Decking

Using Seasonite on your new wood is the best option for maintaining the longevity of the wood. After 6-12 months of weathering with Seasonite your deck will be ready to finish in any way you choose. Seasonite is incredibly easy to use. Simply apply it in a single generous coat using a brush, roller or garden sprayer.

What is the best way to treat new decking?

Brand new decking needs to left alone to weather naturally so that all the pre-treatment has eroded, ready to be oiled. We recommend you wait around six months for it to be fully eroded. Once you’ve waited for the coating to erode, treat your new decking as normal with oil or stain.

When should I oil my new deck?

For best results we recommend you oil your timber deck every six to 12 months. This will ensure longevity and keep your deck looking great. If you’ve just had your new timber deck installed it may be tempting to oil it straight away to give it that glistening shine, but you may need to let it weather beforehand.

How do you treat a new wood deck?

Clean the deck with Clean & Brite, rinse well well and let it dry for a minimum of five days. Once dry, apply two coats of Internal Wood Stabilizer (IWS). IWS is a clear, watery solution that can be applied to newer wood and is a non toxic, permanent waterproofer.
