Does casting a creature count as a spell?
Yes. When you go to play a creature, you first move it onto the stack, where it is a creature spell.
When can you cast a creature spell?
You can cast a creature as a spell during your main phase, and it remains on the battlefield as a permanent. Creatures enter the battlefield with “summoning sickness,” which means that a creature you control can’t attack (or use an ability that has in its cost) until it starts your turn under your control.
Does putting a creature onto the battlefield count as casting?
For nonland cards “play” and “cast” are equivalent; the main difference between the terms is that you play lands but do not cast them. However “putting a permanent onto the battlefield” is not equivalent to either of those things, so Recycle doesn’t trigger. Recycle triggers when you cast a spell or play a land.
Is playing a card casting a card MTG?

Are all MTG cards spells?

Is casting a copy the same as casting a spell?

Do artifacts have summoning sickness MTG?

Is Put the same as play MTG?
No, putting something into play isn’t the same as playing it. Playing a spell means you go through the actions of paying the costs, choosing targets, etc, and put the spell on the stack. Putting something into play just means that your moving it to the ‘in play’ zone. You can play some things which aren’t spells.
Does a creature put onto the battlefield have summoning sickness?
If a card tells you to put a permanent onto the battlefield does it have summoning sickness? Yes. A permanent has Summoning Sickness if you haven’t controlled it continuously since the start of your most recent turn. How it entered the battlefield doesn’t matter.
Is playing a card the same as casting a card?

Can you cast land?
Lands can’t be cast because they aren’t spells, so playing a land means a different action than playing a spell, but the game term still apply to both.
Does casting count as playing?
Yes, you get the cast trigger. “Cast” is a subset of “play”, which means “play if it’s a land, cast if it’s a spell”. It saying “play” instead of “cast” is to allow playing lands with the ability also since you can’t “cast” a land card.
Can a tapped creature block?
You cannot attack or block with a creature that is tapped. So you are correct, if you tap a creature to use an ability before the attack phase, you won’t be able to choose it as an attacker, and it won’t be an available defender during your opponent’s next turn.
Is an instant a spell?
Instants, like sorceries, represent one-shot or short-term magical spells. They are never put onto the battlefield; instead, they take effect when their mana cost is paid and the spell resolves, and then are immediately put into the player’s graveyard.
Does countering a spell destroy it?
701.5a To counter a spell or ability means to cancel it, removing it from the stack. It doesn’t resolve and none of its effects occur. A countered spell is put into its owner’s graveyard. 701.5b The player who cast a countered spell or activated a countered ability doesn’t get a “refund” of any costs that were paid.
Are planeswalkers creatures?
Note that planeswalkers are neither creatures nor players, so most spells and abilities cannot target them directly. If a player attacks an opponent who controls a planeswalker, the player may declare any or all of the attacking creatures to be attacking the planeswalker instead.
What happens to aura when creature dies?
303.4c If an Aura is enchanting an illegal object or player as defined by its enchant ability and other applicable effects, the object it was attached to no longer exists, or the player it was attached to has left the game, the Aura is put into its owner’s graveyard.
Are lands permanents?
Although lands do count as permanents, they don’t have a color. A card’s color is defined by the symbols in the mana cost, and since lands have no mana cost, they are colorless. Lands can be given a color by other effects, such as Deathlace, but by default, they have no color.
