Can you shim a seatpost?

A seatpost shim lets you easily fit the 27.2mm diameter ShockStop Seatpost OR Dual-Position Seatpost into your larger seat tube. Just drop the shim in your frame’s seat tube and insert the seatpost. Once installed, the shim is essentially invisible.

Can I use a shim with a dropper post?

Yep use a shim from 28.6 down to 27.2. I use the right shim specifically for those numbers and works fine. Yep, I’ve got a USE plastic shim to fit a gravity dropper into my Blur frame. Its been absolutely fine.

Can you shim carbon seatpost?

If you’re installing a shim on an aluminum or steel seat post, cover the contact area between the seat post and the shim with regular grease. Can I make a dropper post shorter?

Probably, but it depends how much effort you might want to put into it. The bottom-cap also acts as preload for the spring so you’d need to check how far the thread goes up inside the outer-tube (you could probably cut threads if not far enough) and possibly cut the spring shorter too.

Why is my dropper post not staying down?

If you press the lever of your dropper post and nothing happens (the post either stays up or down), then there is not enough tension on the cable. You’ll want to ADD tension.
