How do you use transfer tape?

Apply Transfer Tape Peel liner from Transfer Tape. Attach a small area of Transfer Tape to your design. This can either be the center or one end of your design. Use a Scraper to burnish Transfer Tape onto your design, working outward from where you attached the small area. Turn your vinyl over and burnish the back side.

Do you have to use transfer tape with Cricut?

Why won’t my Cricut vinyl stick to the transfer tape?

Solution: If your vinyl is not releasing from the transfer tape then your transfer tape may be too sticky! If it’s too sticky, the vinyl will stay on the tape no matter what surface you are applying it to. Use a different tape that is not as sticky. Another way to help this, is to de-stick your tape.

Time- Pressing or ironing for too short a time can cause HTV not to stick to your shirt. Pressing or ironing for too long can have the same effect. HTV works by using a heat activated adhesive so too little time and it won’t heat enough to stick. Too long and it can actually burn the adhesive off.

You want the blade to cut through the vinyl cleanly without cutting through the backing. This is called a “kiss cut,” and it will make it much easier to weed and apply your decal in the next steps.
